Welcome to B-Skill Beauty Academy! We offer a wide range of courses, including Apprenticeships, Short Courses, and NVQ Courses. We often receive questions about the differences between these courses, so below we explain the main distinctions to help you decide which is best for you.
Short Courses
Our Short Courses are designed to be quick and efficient, allowing learners to start trading immediately after completion (subject to insurance). Accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT) and Approved Beauty Therapists (ABT), these courses are insurable and provide a fast-track route into the industry.
Key Features:
Insurable: Start trading straight after completion.
Accredited: By FHT and ABT.
Self-Funded: Usually not fundable, requiring learners to self-fund.
Assessment-Based: No formal end exam; assessment occurs throughout the course.
Resources: Provided for most courses except Hairdressing and Makeup.
Course Length: Full days (9.30am-4.30pm) or half days (9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30pm-4.30pm).
Pre-Requisites: Some courses require pre-requisites; please check at the time of booking.
Model Requirement: Learners are recommended to bring a model for assessments.
Special Notes:
For Makeup courses, a Makeup kit is required, which can be purchased or brought by the learner.
NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Courses
Our NVQ Courses are accredited by VTCT and recognised worldwide. These prestigious qualifications offer a high standard of education, combining theory and practical delivery with various assessments and official exams. NVQs are delivered over an extended period, providing a deep understanding of each subject area.

Accreditation: By VTCT, recognised globally.
Comprehensive Learning: In-depth theory and practical training.
Assessment & Exams: Combination of ongoing assessments and official exams.
Career Progression: Opportunities to become spa therapists, salon owners, work on cruise liners, pursue teaching qualifications, and more.
Course Schedule: Runs throughout the year, excluding bank holidays.
CPD (Continuous Professional Development)
For therapists or trainers, completing a minimum of 30 hours of training per annum is often required. Our short training courses are an excellent way to fulfill these hours while learning new skills to enhance your portfolio.
